Sports Dreams at Cheap Tongue: paintings, photography, a blue picnic table and video cabinet

Opportunity

Turn a character made in 3D into a physical world. A sports mascot dreaming of becoming the best became the starting point for a coming-of-age story, told across different makers, materials and experiences.

Solution

Tim Meakins and I developed the character and its world, taking it from a digital model to a full-size wearable mascot. I art directed and produced the project, bringing collaborators together around one exhibition narrative.

Film, photography, painting and animation sat alongside custom furniture, bootleg merchandise and an original soundtrack—each offering another way into the same story.

Outcome

Presented at Cheap Tongue in Fremantle, Sports Dreams became a shared world rather than a single artwork. One character connected a broad group of collaborators across the exhibition, moving image, objects and clothing.
